Thanksgiving Dinner - A Cornucopia of Parallels to Job Interviews

Thanksgiving Dinner - A Cornucopia of Parallels to Job Interviews

👗 Dress to impress - Probably not your power suit, but wearing an outfit that you totally love, that makes you feel sensational, will boost your confidence when answering those interrogating questions from well meaning (or not) relatives!

🎁 Don’t come empty handed - You don’t need to bring a portfolio of resumes, but a small gift for the host is always in order. (It takes a lot of time, effort, and money to host a holiday!) Bonus points if it’s something they don’t need to fuss with, plate, or put in a vase while they are busy preparing the meal.

đŸ•°ïž Be on time - Leave extra time, because we all know there will be traffic. If you are late, don’t underestimate the kindness of texting your host. They get to decide if they are going to wait for you; 15 minutes, yes, 2 hours, maybe not.

👎 Stay away from religion and politics - Enjoy everyone’s company and find a common ground of things to discuss. Try the food, the kids, favorite podcast, book or Netflix show.

🙂 Prepare in advance - The best way to handle questions is to anticipate them in advance and have your answers ready. Remember you do not need to answer any questions you don’t choose to and no one is allowed to make you feel less than. Smile, thank them for asking, and then change the direction of the conversation.

💌 Send the thank you message - Go the extra step. Saying thank you as you walk out the door is easy. Elevate your Personal Brand and take it a step further. Send a text message the next morning, thanking them for the delicious food, the lovely conversation, and warm hospitality.

Wishing you a Thanksgiving filled with delicious food, warm company, and the ability to be present, and filled with peace and joy. đŸ’—đŸ„§

No matter where we are in life, there is always something to be thankful for!

I wish you a year of abundance, in health, happiness, and success. 😊
