5 Tips to Improve Your Chances
If we are totally honest, it stings. đ˘ For jobseekers, it stings to watch others land jobs, if you have spent every moment of every day, doing ALL THE THINGS, and still, nothing.
Tune out the noise. Nothing about reading about everyone that received an offer (and you havenât) or how many months they have been applying is going to help your confidence or mental state. âźď¸
đ Seriously pay attention to what is working and what isnât working. Itâs a competitive job market, so everything counts.
đ Make sure that your LinkedIn photo is not a selfie of you in the car, with your sunglasses on your head. Or in your classroom, if your goal is to get out of education.
đ If you arenât getting any interviews, start targeting your resume to the positions. Always include metrics and results. Keep the formatting simple. Apply to jobs that are recently posted. Write a WOW cover letter.
đ If you are getting interviews, pat yourself on the back. Your resume is not the problem. Concentrate on your interviewing skills. Research the company (canât tell you how many people only know what is listed on the job posting). Practice interviewing out loud. Have stories and examples, always showcasing your impact and results.
đ Clean up your social media. Yes, employers look before calling you in for an interview and definitely before hiring you.
Comparison doesnât ever help you to feel better about yourself. You do you, celebrate your wins, and recognize the progress you made. đ
