Teachers, Listen Up!

Teachers, Listen Up!

3 Powerful LinkedIn tips for Transitioning Teachers 👩🏻‍🏫

1️⃣ Choose a better headline. This is where you get to market yourself.  Never use transitioning teacher, retired teacher or seasoned teacher and write something more impactful describing the unique value you bring to your new position. A few (related) strong job titles or attributes, followed by a short phrase showcasing what makes you stand out.

2️⃣ The wallpaper tells a lot about you. Don’t use the “schooly” wallpaper template. Design your own using Canva. A great way to stand out is to use a quote (always remembering to cite the author) in your wallpaper. The design you create and quote you choose says a lot about your values.

3️⃣ LinkedIn photos are the 1st thing potential employers look at on LinkedIn. Yes, it really matters. No photos in your classroom, selfies in your car, vacation photos, wedding photos, photos with other people, or photos with miscellaneous arms from the people next to you. Put on the blazer, find good lighting, hand someone your smartphone, and take a better picture. It’s a reflection of you, your brand, and the amount of effort you put into a project.
