Simple Steps to a Better Resume

Simple Steps to a Better Resume

Resume advice simplified:

🎯 Include results with numbers. It’s not enough to have a laundry list of your responsibilities. Employers want to see your impact - what’s better because of YOU.

🎯 Bottom line- recruiters aren’t spending excessive time figuring out if you are a good fit. Your resume needs to make sense to the reader. Avoid jargon and terms that are irrelevant to the job. This is especially important for #transitioningteachers and #careerpivots.

🎯Write a strong summary, not an objective. Think of it as your marketing pitch for why you are awesome for the position.

🎯Keep the formatting simple. No photos, emojis, graphs, charts, or references.

🎯 Most people (and 98% of my clients) have 2 page resumes. Include 10-15 years of experience.

🎯 And it should go without saying, your resume should be neat, well formatted, with proper spacing, consistency with fonts, bullet point, alignment, and no spelling mistakes.
