Should You Disclose a Disability??

Yes or No? Should you disclose a disability on a job application? 🤔

Here’s the interesting thing about disabilities in today’s world. On most job applications, the extensive list of options covers most anyone.

💗 I’ve had clients message me that cancer is on the list, and they are breast cancer survivors, do they need to check “yes?” (I, personally, am a twice thyroid cancer survivor and nothing in my behavior, work ethic, or attitude suggests disability.)

💗 Anxiety and depression are on the list, and a huge percentage of the population are on antidepressants.

💗 I’ve worked with many clients that are medically “on the spectrum” that have fantastic careers and are successful personally and professionally. For most of them, their jobs don’t even know.

My advice is to only disclose personal medical information if you need accommodations.

If not, it’s nobody’s business.
